Authentic Self-Care: Sustaining The Gift That is You
Kelsey Baron, Elon University MHE '23

The term "self-care" can be heard across college campuses, but how much of it is actually practiced? Self-care has become a product, commercialized as a trend, but it is possible to make it a part of your lifestyle as a way to celebrate and protect the gift of your well-being. The conversation will focus on how to practice self-care in sustainable ways which, in turn, support the important work that these participants do every day. All are invited to join in a conversation about taking care of your holistic self, how to do it before you have to, and why you should. We will be looking at self-care as a sustainable practice that then makes it possible for us to do the work of sustainability in our environment and in interfaith work.
  • Participants will recognize the difference between commercialized self-care and the practice of authentic and sustainable self-care.
  •  Participants will reflect on the reason why they practice their self-care and identify the ways in which self-care contributes to our collective and individual activism to sustain our interfaith and environmental justice movements.
  • Participants will take with them several ideas as to how to incorporate self-care into their daily lives as students and as activists.
