Radical Remembrance: Holding Space for Eco-Grief
Lara Struckman

In the Red Tent I will discuss the connection of death and grief as part of the cyclical nature of life that the Red Tent sustains. There will be a short grounding practice and an offering of a framework for grief and eco-grief specifically to unearth the feelings we often look away from to eventually create agency instead of apathy. There will be space to share stories of our personal encounters with earth that both resource us and break our hearts. There will also be an activity to write a letter, create art, pray to a plant/animal/element being to express grief and gratitude.

Attendees will leave with:
  • A greater understanding of the importance of grief in life and in any social movement including the movement around climate justice and repair.
  • Tools to expand and sit with grief and the hard emotions that come with an aching planet and dying living systems.
  • A more intimate connection to the living (& dying) world to sustain and compel allyship to the health of all species.
